[Introduction]. Looking at today’s Slovakia one can get the feeling of being in the Phoenix fairy-tale. It seems as if Slovakia needed to go through a purifying fire in order to shine in the full beauty of the Phoenix. The result of the last four years is a country, where the lie was a working method, human dignity was trampled, and citizens played only a minor role in issues that influenced their lives. Constantly-repeated statements about freedom, human rights, democracy and a flourishing economy became untrustworthy and empty phrases. Nevertheless, it was the voter who drew up a bill to such an administration of public issues in the last Parliamentary elections in September 1998. Change was the decisive factor in the elections. Slovakia at that time found hope again. Slogans from November 1989 became again relevant. An over 84 % turnout speaks very clear about a desire for change in policy orientation and style among the citizens of Slovakia. The high turnout in these elections showed a clear commitment of the Slovak electorate to the democratic process. The electorate ended Slovakia’s way into isolation and unambiguously decided in favour of democracy and EU-integration. Since the time of the elections in September 1998, the situation in Slovakia has developed very quickly. Changes implemented since this time Eva Slivkova could not be considered in the Regular Report from the Commission on Slovakia’s progress towards accession due to objective reasons. The new Slovak government is very much interested in a positive quotation in the conclusions from the coming Cologne European Council meeting, which could facilitate the shift of Slovakia into the first group of applicant countries. The government’s plan is to present a new image of Slovakia at the European Council summit in Cologne in June 1999. These thoughts are an endeavour to outline an actual picture of Slovakia, which is more positive than the one offered in the Regular Report of the Commission, an it is an attempt to contribute to the information campaign about recent steps in internal reforms and progress in the adoption of European legislature. Every day, every week means further steps for Slovakia in fulfilling the conditions for launching the negotiations between Slovakia and the European Union. As these lines were written, the government of the Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda was balancing its first hundred days in office

Mikroekonomický scoringový model úpadku českých podniků

The paper is devoted to the proposing a scoring model of firm´s bankruptcy on the basis of logistic regression which could be used in the purpose of classifying the good and bad firms in the Czech Republic. Firstly, the general foundation of logistic regression is described and then the general procedure of model-building strategy including the statistical verification and in-sample validation are explained. Then, we have built the empirical scoring model using results of financial analysis carried out over 400 Czech firms in 2008 and we select such financial ratios with the most substantial prediction capability, i.e. return on assets, current and long-term indebtedness and cash ratio. Our proposed model is fully statistical verified and we also perform the in-sample validation via classification table and ROC curve. Finally, we compare our model with others studies made in this field

The main topic of this bachelor thesis is The overall assessment of financial situation of a company. The whole work is composed of five chapters, the first of these is the introduction where we learn about the objectives of the thesis of assessing the financial health of company Agroland, Ltd. during the five-year period. The second chapter deals with the essence of financial analysis, the phases of financial analysis and especially the methods which are used to calculate it. The majority of the chapter is devoted to ratio analysis. The third chapter of bachelor thesis deals with prediction and diagnostic models, the calculations and subsequent assessment of financial soundness. Mentioned is the economic value added, which is an indicator of the overall performance of a company. The fourth chapter is a practical part of the thesis. Knowledge learned from previous chapters are applied to the company Agroland, Ltd., which is presented at the beginning of this section. The fifth and therefore the last chapter concludes the whole work. It contains an overall assessment of management over five years on the basis of the calculations.

The main topic of this thesis is Forecasting firm´s bankruptcy by scoring model. The whole work is composed of five chapters. The first chapter is an introduction where we learn about the goal of the work, which is to create a functional model for predicting firm´s bankruptcy. The second chapter deals with describing the financial analysis. The larger part of this chapter comprises a description of financial ratios. The third chapter describes the rating and scoring models, the main theme, however, are methods of making these models, such as discriminant analysis, regression analysis and logistic regression. At the end of chapter are also discussed selected prediction models. The fourth chapter is the application part. It includes results and evaluation, which have been achieved in creating a model using logistic regression in STATA. The fifth and therefore last chapter is concluded that includes evaluation of the whole work.154 - Katedra financívýborn

Fungal Flora in Asymptomatic Pet Guinea Pigs and Rabbits

    No full text
Fungal skin diseases are well-recognized diseases with public health implications. The study provides a comprehensive overview and aims to determine the rate of positive fungal cultures to identify the most common fungal species in guinea pigs and rabbits and to determine the rate of asymptomatic carriers in healthy pet animals. This knowledge is essential for understanding disease transmission dynamics and epidemiological situation problems. A total of 167 animals (64 rabbits and 103 guinea pigs) were investigated in this study. The fungi of the genus Penicillium, Rhizopus, Mucor, Cladosporium, and Aspergillus were the most common in the examined animals, and they were isolated from 162 (97%) of the animals enrolled. No fungal growth was observed in 5 animals. In 15 cases (8.98%), we found pathogenic zoonotic dermatophytes (Trichophyton mentagrophytes), which caused several health problems in two humans in contact with affected animals. This study presents the prevalence of fungal flora in pet guinea pigs and rabbits in Slovakia
